Effects of Climate Change

We've all heard about climate change and their effects have been increasingly felt in recent years. When it comes about climate change, we generally think of high temperatures. But these are not the only effects. Tornadoes, hurricanes, droughts, rising sea levels and floods, tropical storms, melting glaciers, soil erosion are also among them.

Regarding high temperatures ranging between the years 1998 - 2013, showed a significant increase in the year 2010, it being the warmest. On that year, thousands of wild fires were recorded across the world, including in Siberia.

Gradually extreme weather settled worldwide: drought in some parts of the world and massive flooding in others. All this has had a significant impact on ecosystems and agriculture, many crops were destroyed partially or totally.

Dust storms had a negative impact on agriculture, but they also spread disease and pollution.

Flooding began to be increasingly common in recent years and they affected thousands of people worldwide. An example of this are the floodings from Zhejang Province, China, in June 2011, in which over a million people were evacuated and destroyed almost all crops. Pakistan Floods of 2010 also recorded damage of 43 million dollars.

Another effect of climate change is desertification. It currently affecting countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

And here we come to one of the most popular effects: melting of ice caps and glaciers. Both are important in the regulation of temperature, they are limiting the heat absorption and also the reflection of sunlight (the so-called albedo). Melting glaciers may also increase sea levels, and the extinction of many species of animals: polar bears, seals, pinguins etc.
