Limestone Blocks from Bădila and The Trovants from Ulmet, Buzău County, Romania

Some time ago, I began a journey into the Land of Buzau, showing you places of  geological, paleontological, speological, botanical and zoological interest, places that can be visited in the area.

Today, I will continue this trip in Buzau, pausing over two other extremely important monuments such as the Limestone Blocks from Bădila and The Trovants from Ulmet.

Once you have entered into the area of  Sub-Carpathians  Curvature, between municipalities of Pârscov and Viperești, you can see stretch peaks, that are very similar to staunch guards of the past. These are the Limestone Blocks from Bădila .

The Limestone Blocks is a natural monument, a site of geological and paleontological interest, a IUCN site of category III . They consist of 40 coral blocks bioclastic nature (derived from coral reefs), size and shapes dating back to the upper Jurassic (Mesozoic). This monument covers an area of 1 hectare.

      The
Trovants, located in Ulmet, Bozioru village, Buzau County,  the so-called "alive" stones with strange shapes are growing a few centimetres once to several hundred years. The Trovants are true curiosities of nature, on which were written many stories over time. They are also known as " The Old Ladies from Ulmet " and are considered good luck stones, people putting them in front of their houses to protect them from bad spirits.
