A place that really impressed me .... it's Pico do Arieiro peak from the beautiful Portuguese Island of Madeira.
Pico do Arieiro has a height of 1818 meters and is the third peak of the island. Fortunately you can get there by car. The view is spectacular, and if you're lucky enough to be good weather you can even see the Island of Porto Santo. Up, you can find a nice restaurant that has a souvenir shop.
From Pico do Arieiro can start a trail towards Pico Ruivo, the highest peak on the island, the route taking about two to three hours.
And up there, the view is wonderful. You can see a sea of clouds and can firmly say: "Yes, for a moment I was above the clouds!"
