The Wonderful Botanical Garden from Funchal, Madeira

All nature lovers and especially plants lovers are tempted to choose Botanical Gardens as destination when they are on holiday in a certain place. One of the most beautiful botanical gardens in Europe that really impressed me was the one in Funchal, Madeira.

It is huge, stretching over an area of 8 acres,  5 of which are covered only by gardens. The Garden is located 3 kilometers from Funchal, Madeira 's capital .

The eye can see only greenery .... Visitors can enjoy a variety of plant species from all over the world. They are very well classified, near every plant you can find  a plate with the name of the plant (its scientific name), the gender, family, its place of origin. We can see there succulent plants, aromatic and medicinal plants, ornamental plants, agricultural and industrial ones etc .

In addition to plant species, Botanical Garden hosts a collection of exotic birds generally made up of various parrot species, from little ones like the Nymphs (Nymphicus hollandicus) and Agapornis  to talking parrot species like Little and Great Alexander, Jako - African Grey, Ara Chloroptera. We can also meet species of turtles.

Inside the Botanical Garden, you can visit the Museum of Natural Sciences, where you can see collections of birds, marine species of vertebrate and invertebrate, fossils.

Botanical Garden of Madeira is a destination that worth to be visited!
