Ponta de Sao Lourenco Nature Reserve, Madeira, Portugal

A beautiful landscape and a wonderful panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean .... A piece of Heaven! It is called Ponta de Sao Lourenco Nature Reserve and it is found in the beautiful island of Madeira ...
Ponta de Sao Lourenco is in the eastern part of the island and it’s a nature reserve since 1982. Here you can see a landscape totally unique compared to other areas of the island. The reserve is famous for rare and endemic species of plants, for species of birds that you can see everywhere you look with your eyes, for sea lions that you can see them sometimes near the shore or for the geological heritage in the area. It is also a Natura 2000 Site.
Here you can meet two types of beaches: Prainha, a famous beach, the only natural black sand beach on the island, and a rocky beach, like all of Madeira (which is a volcanic island). The beaches are ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
