How can you have a sustainable and healthy holiday?

     Would you like to have a healthy holiday? Here is the list of the top 10 cities that you can visit by bicycle without using car or other means of transportation. The bicycle has a beneficial role for all of us, reducing pollution and traffic congestion.

. Amsterdam (The Netherlands)

      
Amsterdam is one of the main cities in the world where cycling is used as a mean of sustainable transport. It is an example for all of us. Sometimes it can produce traffic jam, but it's about traffic jam on two wheels.

2. Copenhagen (Denmark)

    
Copenhagen ranks second in the world in terms of sustainable mobility. In Scandinavia, cycling is a way of life for its residents. More than 50% of them use bicycles as transportation.


3. Portland (United States)

   
Although not many people expected it, Portland was still on top in terms of cycling. Here you can still hear about people discussing about the 3B: beer, bartman and bike.

4. Paris (France)

    
When you think of Paris, for sure you are not associating it with cycling. But it has one of the most important operational bicycle sharing scheme: Velib '. And yes, cycling is part of Parisian culture.

Here is another American city in the top. This city is also extremely beautiful and well known for practicing sustainable mobility.

In Berlin, 13% of the population of the city use bicycle as transportation daily. In some districts, the percentage rises even to 25%. Maybe we cannot compare it to Amsterdam or Copenhagen, but this type of transportation has become enormous.

With 250 miles of bike trails, Rio de Janeiro is an ideal city for cycling - as using cars (because of traffic jam) can be a nightmare. Meanwhile, good weather in Rio can be used for cycling.

8. Barcelona (Spain)

    
Beach, mountain, metropolitan area ... and a great place to ride quietly. Barcelona is one of the most comprehensive global cities, and bicycles are no exception in this landscape.

9. Montreal (Canada)

     
Canadian cities have lots of roads, and even separate lanes for bicycles. There are also nearly 5,000 miles of bike trails, the so-called Route Verte area.

10. Bogotá (Colombia)

      
CicloRuta is one of the largest cities in the world. Given that many residents do not have access to the use of a car, bicycles are an economical and welcomed solution by the locals.


       
In Romania, cycling began to develop in the last years. People are using this economical and environmentally means of transport to go to work, school or simply to relax. Also appeared in our country like Bicing (Barcelona) and Velib (Paris), operational schemes for renting bicycles. It is called I Love Velo and you can find bikes to rent  in Bucharest, Cluj and some other cities in Romania.
