Sea - buckthorn - a miraculous medicinal plant

We've all heard of sea-buckthorn and its miraculous properties to cure diseases. Sea - buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides), also known as white sea-buckthorn or river sea-buckthorn, is a thorny shrub that grows on sandy soils, but also on salty ones.

Of sea - buckthorn only fruits are used, but mature ones, both fresh and dried. They are very rich in vitamins B1, B2, C, PP, folic acid, fatty acids etc..

This plant is used both in therapy and dietary purposes. In therapy is used to treat anemia, but also for the prevention of colds. As for food, it is used for making juices, syrups, jam and wine.

I will continue by giving you a recipe loved by all of us, but I think that it has a special flavor in Buzau Land: sea - buckthorn honey. Sea-buckthorn, which grows on the Mountain of salt from Lopătari, Buzau, mixed with honey, is a recipe that deserves prepared for its wonderful taste. Locals are true masters in preparing it.

So take a jar that fills three quarters of sea-buckthorn fruit washed beforehand, then fill a quarter of honey and let it cool! You really must give it a try!
